One of the most common health problems found in cats is infection by intestinal worms. These worms represent a real health hazard to both their feline hosts and to humans.

Tapeworms infect some 30% of the adult cat population while roundworms are even more common, especially in young growing kittens.

Roundworms: are common to almost all animal and bird species on earth and the occasional bird or mouse caught by a cat is the most common source of infection.
(Many kittens can be born with their own well-developed worm burden)

Tapeworms: have as part of their lifecycle the common flea. A flea ingested by a cat during grooming is generally the cause of infestation by this parasite.

Symptoms of Worm Infestation

These include lacklustre coat, constant hunger, restlessness, bad tempered, or a pot bellied appearance.
